The Buggy Bunch

Our mission is to build relationships with IRC moms in order to help equip their families.

Who they are

The Buggy Bunch's mission is to build relationships with Indian River County moms in order to help equip their families with programs and services that will assist in meeting their individual needs. The Buggy Bunch exists to follow the example of, and bear witness to, the Good News of Jesus Christ through our words and actions.

Where they're headed

The Buggy Bunch’s vision is that all Indian River County moms and families are thriving emotionally, financially, mentally, physically and spiritually. All moms will reach their individual potential and have a wide network of support.

What this means for you

Education

Educational Playgroups:

Moms and their kids meet once a week for a fun and educational class. The free groups are designed for children ages 0-5, and encourage interactive play. Children in Educational Playgroups learn while singing, talking, reading, pointing, and engaging with each other and parents. One of our most popular playgroups offered is Sensory Playgroup.

Faith Development

Bible Studies:

Moms participate in one of our many annual Bible Studies while receiving free childcare. Past locations have included: Pathway Church, Vero Beach Church of Christ, Christ Church of Vero Beach, Trinity Episcopal Church, First Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church, St. Paul's Church, and Vincent’s Pizzeria.

Single Moms Ministry:

Single moms meet together for fellowship and support. Past events have included Single Moms Bible Studies(moms participate in Bible Studies while receiving free childcare) and Single Moms’ Night Out (we provide an evening out with free childcare). We also love on and support single moms and their families during the holidays through our Christmas Angel Program.

Children’s Ministry:

While moms attend Bible Study, children learn about Jesus Christ in a safe and loving environment. Snacks, crafts, and Christian curriculum are used to share the gospel in the most effective and strategic ways.

Intercessory Prayer Group:

Staff and volunteers pray for and with moms.

Bereavement Bible Study and Support Group:

Moms who have suffered a miscarriage, stillbirth, tubal pregnancy, or infant loss meet once a month to encourage each other while participating in a Bible Study. Free childcare is provided.

Mentoring:

A formal network of mentors and mentees. Seasoned mothers are paired with moms dealing with specific issues like adjusting to mothering, divorce, addiction, abuse, special needs children, adultery, financial struggles, and more. This is typically incorporated into our Bible Studies in a group setting, but mentors and mentees also meet outside of Bible Study individually.

Family Outings

Family Camping Trips:

The Buggy Bunch offers camping trips at off-site locations. Camping encourages family bonding and relationship building with other Indian River County families.

Family Picnics:

Picnics and other family friendly events are organized at local parks as a means for families to connect with one another and to engage the community.

Fitness & Nutrition

Mama Strong:

Moms (and sometimes their children) meet at various locations such as local parks and gyms for one hour to complete strength training and other fitness activities with a personal trainer.

Little Champs Fitness Class:

Moms and their children meet for a 30-minute exercise class focused on fun fitness skills and games for kids of all ages.

Mommy Cooking Class:

Moms meet for a hands-on interactive cooking class with a local chef or volunteer. Moms learn about healthy habits, easy meal options, and fun foods that the whole family will love.

Social Outings

On-line Community Events Calendar:

Events hosted by The Buggy Bunch or other community groups are posted at www.thebuggybunch.com.

Playgroups:

Moms and children meet at local parks or churches for two hours of socialization and playtime. Some playgroups are structured, like our Sensory Playgroups, Dance with Mom Playgroup, and Art Playgroup. Other playgroups are unstructured and held at parks and splash pads in the summer.

Movie Days:

The Buggy Bunch partners with local churches to put on a weekly movie during the summer for kids of all ages. Moms and kids can come and enjoy a free family-friendly movie and light snacks with other moms and friends.
