Our Covenant

Covenant of the Vero Church

Having committed to Jesus Christ as Lord of my life and having put Him on in baptism for the remission of my sins, I commit myself to God and to the other members of the Vero Beach Church of Christ to do the following:

I will protect the unity of my church:

By acting in love, mercy, and kindness toward other members

1 Peter 1:22 - Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart…

By attending faithfully

Hebrews 10:24-25 - And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

By respecting those in leadership positions

Hebrews 13:17 - Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.

I will support the core mission of my church:

By praying consistently

1 Thessalonians 1:2 - We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers…

By inviting the lost

Acts 1:8b - [Y]ou will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

By warmly welcoming people into the church

Romans 15:7 - Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.

I will serve in the ministry of my church:

By studying God’s word

2 Tim 2:15 - Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

By discovery of my gifts and talents

1 Peter 4:10 - As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace…

By being equipped to serve those in the body

Eph. 4:11-12 - And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds, and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ…

By developing a servant’s heart

Phil. 2:4-7 - Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who…emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

I will strengthen the reputation of my church:

By living a Godly life

Phil. 2:3 - Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

By giving regularly

1 Cor. 16:2 - On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come.

By refusing to gossip

Ephesians 4:29 - Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
